Love Local Holiday Catalog

Love Local Holiday Catalog

The reason Aviva Woman is doing this is because shopping is too easy to do online, which makes it sooo hard to know what is available locally without going out to each store.  They personally want to use their holiday spending on gifts from local retailers. They know many, many more people who feel the same.  The thought of being able to get their family cool gifts from just around the corner AND being to support our local retailers, makes this whole idea of the Love Local Holiday Catalog so important to Aviva Woman.

If you would like to participate, here is what they need:

1)  Up to 6 items to be featured
2)  Pictures and product descriptions
3)  Price for each item
4)  A brief description of your store, the owner, the team or anything fun you would like to share about your store.

If people can call in and order the item from the store for curbside pick up that would be great! They need the business phone number and special instructions (limited wording).  If you have an online store, please let her know and she will include that information in your feature.

They will be highlighting different stores throughout the month as she gets images to share. She'd like to publish the catalog by Thanksgiving.  They hope to share the local vibe and boost our amazing community of local goodies and gifts.

If you would like to participate please contact Suzi Sands at suzi@avivawoman.com.

Small Business Quarantined Employee Grant

Small Business Quarantined Employee Grant

The $2 million Small Business Quarantined Employee Grant uses federal CARES Act funds as part of Utah’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. It provides reimbursement to small business employers who pay employees to stay home during quarantine or isolation for a maximum of 40 hours per week for a period of up to two calendar weeks.

One of the easiest ways to protect a business as well as slow the spread of COVID-19 is to ask sick employees to stay home. Many employees are nervous to take time off if they are sick for fear of losing their job or income while they get better. Employees may also hesitate to tell their employer if someone in their home has tested positive for COVID-19 or if they have come in close contact with someone who has tested positive.

This grant will help make that choice easier by allowing employers with less than 50 employees to continue to pay quarantined or isolated employees and then be reimbursed through the grant.

To be eligible businesses must have:

• Less than 50 employees in Utah.
• One or more employees receiving notice that the employee must quarantine or isolate due to positive COVID-19 test or exposure to someone who has tested positive.
• Continued to pay out regular wages to an employee(s) while the employee was in quarantine/isolation.

Comcast Rise

Comcast Rise

Comcast created an amazing program titled Comcast Rise. This program is focused on helping Black-owned small businesses in Utah that have been hit hard by the unexpected events from the past year.

Comcast's program stands for Representation, Investment, Strength and Empowerment. The program will be available starting on November 28, 2020. All Black-owned small businesses are eligible to apply.

Comcast RISE offers marketing and technology makeovers, which may include media placements, marketing consultations, commercial creative production services, or technology services such as computer equipment, internet, voice and cybersecurity from Effectv, the advertising sales division of Comcast Cable, and Comcast Business, Comcast’s cable provider to small and mid-size businesses.
