Millcreek Business Market Opportunity! The Millcreek Business Council will be hosting the Millcreek Business Market on Thursday, September 14, 2023, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Millcreek Common (1354 East Chambers Ave, Millcreek, UT, 84106). This is a great opportunity for businesses to connect, market, and hire. Set up will take place at 3:00 PM on event day. More details will come as the event gets closer. The Millcreek Business Market has three purposes: • Connect – we want local licensed Millcreek Businesses to connect with the Millcreek community. This will be a great opportunity to show the community what it is that you do. This event will be held during Food Truck Thursday, the Millcreek Common skate loop will be open, and we are inviting individuals from all over Millcreek and the Valley to join. We hope this event will be a fun celebration for your business and one that really draws a crowd. • Market – along the lines of connecting with the community, this will be an amazing place to market your business. You can bring any sort of fliers, marketing materials, create a fun activity for the public, and sell your goods with no additional business license required! The Millcreek Business Council and Millcreek City will also help advertise this event with your company’s logos on our marketing. Marketing will go out in the Millcreek Business Council E-Newsletter, the Millcreek City E-Newsletter, go on the Digital District Sign at Millcreek Common, and fliers will be going out all over the valley including to universities in Northern Utah, local Millcreek Businesses, apartment buildings, and more! This is a great opportunity to reach the community. • Hire – we are working with Granite School District and the Department of Workforce Services to bring in job seekers from around the valley. We would love it if your business were hiring to showcase that to the public and for your business to connect with potential employees during the event. This event is an exclusive opportunity for licensed Millcreek Businesses. It is a NONREFUNDABLE $50 to register for this event. • Your $50 registration fee includes 10 free skate passes around the Millcreek Common skate loop ($120 value) for the event night only! Invite your employees, families, and friends to help you with this event and enjoy some free skating that night! • Don’t have your own event tent? Rent one of ours for an additional (and optional) $100! Bringing your own event tents are encouraged and a free option. We only have 12 spots left, so REGISTER TODAY! Deadline to register by August 12th, 2023! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSe8n9XT3UHHOe7TNeTZhT29WLCUf-aDtVapDltfhkCHCJ2LOA/viewform If you have any questions, please contact Alyssa Henrie with Millcreek City at ahenrie@millcreek.us or call at 801-214-2765! Wellness Corner -The Magic of Public Commitment By: Ben Fogel I have been doing a lot of reading, thinking and learning recently, and the most common theme that comes up when the talk is about reaching a particular goal or outcome is this: When you commit yourself to putting the work in on a particular goal, and when you make that commitment public, you are going to be much more likely to reach the outcome you are looking to reach. I want to give an example. There was a study performed where they looked at two groups that used the “MyFitnessPal” calorie and food tracking app. Group one used the app and tracked their daily nutrition and had targeted calorie goals. Group two did all the same tracking with one minor difference: Group two shared their calorie goal and weekly data with a friend or family member and let them know about their commitment to their goal. The outcome? Group two had a 50% increase in reaching their goals from literally just doing that one extra part – sharing their commitment to their desired outcome to someone – having another person that they knew they were going to report back to changed their outcome dramatically. What can we learn from this? Well, a lot, in fact!

The Millcreek Youth Council Needs Your Help! The Millcreek Youth Council needs your help! There are hundreds of elementary and secondary school students in Granite School District that don't have the means to get the supplies they need for school. With that in mind, we’ve teamed up with @granitekids to hold a backpack and school supplies drive! Our goal is to collect 100 filled backpacks by Friday, August 4th. Please take a look at the two lists in this post (one for elementary students, one for secondary students) and donate what you can. You can drop off donations to Millcreek City Hall (3330 S 1300 E), Monday-Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM through August 4th. Spread the word!
