Thank you to our Premiere Sponsor, the Millcreek Miracle, for sharing with us all of the wonderful things businesses currently do and can do for the community. Thank you for helping to make this event happen with your generous sponsorship!

Thank you to our photographer, Rick Hepner with Next Level Consulting, for donating your services to the party and beautifully capturing the great time we had!

Thank you to Rancho Markets for donating 100 delicious cookies for our guests to take home that morning.

Thank you to the city of Millcreek for allowing us to use The Grandview. This is a beautiful space on the 6th floor of the new Millcreek City Hall. Thank you to the Community Life Team for helping put together the event and making the room look so lovely.

Thank you to our caterers Elizabeth's Catering and Cheers and Swizzles for the delicious waffle bar and mimosas!

Thank you to Mayor Jeff Silvestrini and City Manager Mike Winder for joining us last Friday and congratulating us on a great year. It was an honor to have you both a part of the celebration!

Millcreek Miracle - Tell Your Business's Story!

Has your business been involved with the community and given back in some way? Have you sponsored an event that supports the community or supported a nonprofit organization in some way?

Zions Bank who recently hosted the Lights On Event here in Millcreek! They brought in students from the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind to decorate their tree in their bank's lobby! They provided the students with art supplies, yummy refreshments including cookies and Capri Suns, and had the children visit with Milo the Millcreek Moose! The children loved the event and we thank Zions Bank for being involved with the community in this light-hearted, meaningful, and fun way. (Millcreek and Zions Bank received permission from all guardians of the students to post this photo to external communications.)

The Millcreek Miracle wants to promote these stories to the community and encourage the community in return to shop local. It's wonderful to support a business who supports their community. Miracles happen in a community when people, businesses and causes come together to make a difference.

Sub 4 Santa

Intensive Physical Therapy Institute Sub 4 Santa

Some of our families have limited resources and treatment for their children can be expensive with lots of surprises and challenges and often requires more than they have. We want to support them this Christmas as inflation and rising costs stretch their resources even more.

Saying that, we decided to do a Sub for Santa for some of our patients' families and would love as much help as we can find.

We are also creating gift trees for our parents.  Often, our parents are stretched and tired and don't have the time to care for themselves, so we are looking for donations that would support Mom's and Dad's self care. Gift cards, massages, pedicures, movie tickets, gym visits, bath care, personal care, etc. We will accept financial donations as well to purchase gifts. This kind of donation may be easier for some rather than a family.

We also have a foundation (Enhance Life Foundation 401(c)(3)) that helps families who cannot pay for their therapy, equipment, orthotics, adaptive renovations to their homes etc.  We would gladly accept donations for that as well. We do have donation receipts.

Our last day open for the year will be Friday until Dec. 22, so I would say the last day for donations would need to be by Friday Dec. 15, which would give us a week to get them distributed.

If you have questions about this Sub 4 Santa opportunity or would like to donate, please email Cathy Hawkins at iptinst@gmail.com!

Epic Fitness Wellness Corner - The "5 D's" for overcoming cravings during the holiday's

By: Ben Fogel

Did you know the average weight gain by American’s between the Thanksgiving holiday and New Years Day is a staggering 15 pounds!?  Yes, you heard that right.

15 pounds of fat gained is just the “average.”  So, how do you not become the “average” American.  It is really about managing your cravings by having a simplistic way to combat them.

But, where the heck can you start?  We like to call it the “5 D’s” – using the 5 D’s in the order below will help you to make a really good decision if you are actually hungry or bored – sad, angry or happy – or actually hungry.  Check out the 5 D’s below and how you can start using them when you start to have a craving for your favorite holiday dessert.

Using the 5 D’s Successfully:

Delay: Postpone eating for 10-15 minutes when you feel an urge.  Maybe even set an alarm for those 10-15 minutes. You’re not saying “no” – just stopping to think before you eat. You’re not ignoring the thought but dealing with it. While you’re delaying your decision, the next D makes it easier.

Distract: Try a non-food activity to give you something to. Often the wave of desire to eat disappears in a few minutes when you keep your hands busy without food. Organize a room in your house, call a friend, go for a walk, fold the laundry or even drink a glass of water.  The most important part is to remove yourself from the situation and do something else!

Distance: It’s important to keep your eating environment at arm’s length – maintaining a distance. Remove yourself from the kitchen: “out of sight, out of mind” can help. Stay out of the kitchen especially when a craving strikes. Use the kitchen only for food preparation and meal consumption. Avoid it as a place to hang out.
