How Can I Earn Points?

You earn 1 point each time you:

- Attend any Millcreek Business Council event
- Apply for Millcreek Business of the Month
- Sponsor a Millcreek Business Council event
- Sponsor a raffle prize or fundraiser donation
- Host a coat drive box at your business location / service projects
- Premium sponsor or table sponsor at the Millcreek Business Council Gala

Makiko's Daycare is Business of the Month!

Makiko’s Daycare Center is a Japanese style daycare and preschool in Millcreek dedicated to nurturing young children through language, culture, and community. Founded by owner Makiko Hirota, the center has proudly served families for over 14 years, offering a warm and structured environment where children learn the Japanese language, cultural traditions, and essential social skills through daily immersion.

Programs include physical education such as dance, gymnastics, and Zumba, nutritious Japanese meals made with organic ingredients, and weekly advanced Japanese classes. The center also celebrates both American and Japanese holidays and hosts special events that enrich cultural understanding.

Makiko’s Daycare Center has been recognized as one of the top daycares in Salt Lake County and has been featured on Japanese radio and at local cultural festivals. With a strong commitment to education, cultural exchange, and community involvement, the center helps children build confidence and a global perspective.

Salt Lake Sideways

Salt Lake Sideways is a storytelling platform that celebrates the people, places, and small businesses that make the Salt Lake area wonderfully unique. Founded by Betsy Bober Polivy, the project grew from her love of wandering side streets and discovering the stories hiding just off the main road. Today, Salt Lake Sideways shares engaging profiles, local favorites, and behind the scenes looks at the creatives, entrepreneurs, and community builders who give neighborhoods their character.

Stories are organized by districts and themes, including South Salt Lake, Maven, Marmalade, Liberty Wells, and the newly added Millcreek district, which highlights Millcreek’s growing mix of local eateries, family owned businesses, and creative spaces. With curiosity, warmth, and a sense of fun, Salt Lake Sideways invites readers to explore familiar places in new ways and fall a little more in love with the communities they call home.
