Columbia Ave Safety Improvement

Project Overview

Millcreek will enhance pedestrian safety by extending the sidewalk and adding a pedestrian access ramp along Columbia Avenue and State Street. The project aims to create a safe pedestrian environment, making accessing the busy corridor easier and more secure. 

Businesses and travelers in the area may experience the following: 

  • Construction activities will take place during daytime hours (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
  • Increased noise, dust, and vibration
  • Intermittent road closures and traffic shifts
  • Staging of construction equipment, materials, and traffic control

Project Timeline* & Updates

February 10, 2025 Update
Millcreek has selected the contractor for the project and will be coordinating with the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) on the construction of State Street. Construction is expected to begin in early March 2025. 

March 11, 2025 Update
Crews have begun setting up traffic control and staging their equipment in the area. We expect crews to begin demoing asphalt on Monday, March 17. 

March 20, 2025 Update
Concrete work has started, and crews will continue to place concrete for the sidewalk, curb, gutter, and drive approaches throughout next week. 

April 17, 2025 Update
Crews have completed the concrete work and will soon finish the asphalt work along the corridor. Final activities include landscape restoration and completion of the final punchlist items.

April 21, 2025 Update 
All construction activities for the Columbia Safety Improvement project have been completed. We appreciate the contractor for their hard work and speedy completion of this project.
